Pugie is medical doctor, a Specialist Public Health Physician and a holder of a PhD in Public Health Medicine with special focus on NCDs particulary hypertension by training. In academia, he is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Science and Technology (Zimbabwe) and an academic reviewer in various journals. Leading OPHID’s technical programs, Dr Chimberengwa is passionate about instilling a culture of evidence-based curative healthcare delivery and the attainment of HIV epidemic control in Zimbabwe as well as NCDs integration in HIV care. His management pays a special focus in practicing 5S-KAIZEN-Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophy. Pugie takes pride in building problem solving teams as well as mentoring OPHID staff and his students alike.
